Creativity: Career Counselling using Creative Approaches
Workshop Overview:
Creativity is a valuable component of career development counselling, helping practitioners engage clients in meaningful and productive conversations. Career decisions often involve uncertainty, personal reflection, and complex emotions that can be difficult to explore through traditional counselling approaches alone. Creative methods provide alternative ways for clients to express their thoughts, explore their experiences, and engage more deeply in the career development process.
By incorporating tools such as metaphors, storytelling, visual activities, and reflective exercises, practitioners can create more flexible and client-centred counselling experiences. These approaches encourage self-awareness, challenge limiting beliefs, and help clients uncover new perspectives and possibilities. Ultimately, creativity supports clients to gain greater clarity, build confidence in their decision-making, and develop career pathways that are aligned with their strengths, values, and aspirations.
