Career Development Strategies Series

Workshop Overview:

The Career Development Strategies workshop series provides career practitioners, advisors, and coaches with practical tools, frameworks, and techniques that can be immediately applied to support clients in achieving meaningful career outcomes. Grounded in real-world practice, the workshops focus on enhancing client engagement, building confidence and capability, and responding effectively to the diverse needs of individuals at different stages of life and career development.

Recognising that career development is not a one-size-fits-all process, the series includes specialised workshops for young people with disabilities, individuals experiencing long-term unemployment, career-transitioning adults, and those preparing for retirement. Each workshop addresses the unique challenges and opportunities faced by these groups, equipping practitioners with targeted strategies to support inclusive pathways, workforce participation, career change, and purposeful life transitions. Together, the series strengthens professional practice and enables practitioners to deliver more responsive, impactful, and client-centred career development services.

Workshop Series:

Recognising that career development needs vary across different stages of life and individual circumstances, the Strategies Series offers four standalone two-day workshops for you to choose from. You can attend the workshops that best suit your interests and professional needs – there is no requirement to complete all four, and they may be taken in any order. Registration and payment are made separately for each workshop you attend.

  • Workshop: Young People with Disabilities:
Explore inclusive and strengths-based approaches to supporting young people with disability as they navigate education, training, employment and life transitions. The workshop considers individual strengths and aspirations, barriers to participation, reasonable adjustments, support networks and strategies for building confidence, agency and meaningful career pathways.

  • Workshop: Long-Term Unemployed:
Develop practical approaches for working with people experiencing extended periods of unemployment. Participants explore the impact of changing labour markets, confidence and motivation, barriers to employment and career adaptability, while developing strategies that support hope, capability, employability and sustainable re-engagement with work and learning.
  • Workshop: Career Transitioning Adults:
Support adults navigating career change due to restructuring, redundancy, changing industries, technology, personal circumstances or the desire for something new. This workshop explores transferable skills, career identity, labour market opportunities, reskilling and decision-making strategies that help clients confidently plan their next career chapter.

  • Workshop: Retirement:
Explore retirement as a significant career and life transition, rather than simply an exit from employment. Participants consider identity, purpose, lifestyle, financial considerations, volunteering, caring responsibilities, flexible work and encore careers, with strategies to help clients design a meaningful and personally rewarding transition beyond traditional employment..
